Orchestra: Siberian Symphony Orchestra

Dmitry Vasiliev was born in 1972. He studied conducting with professor Vladimir Ushenin and professor Krikor Kchurdayan at Rostov State Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1996. In 1999 Dmitry Vasiliev got a postgraduate degree in opera and symphonic conducting at Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory (professor - Honoured Art worker of Russia Alexander Skulsky).

Dmitry Vasiliev participated in master-classes of Alexander Vedernikov in Moscow State Conservatory in 1996-1997 as well as in the 1st Master-class for Young Russian Conductors (Moscow, Russia) under the guidance of artistic director, Chief conductor of Moscow Symphony Orchestra, Vladimir Ziva in 2000.

He became Artistic director and Chief conductor of Tambov Symphony Orchestra in 1997. In 2002 he toured with Tambov Symphony Orchestra in France. Dmitry Vasiliev appears with major russian orchestras like Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic, Rostov-on-Don Philharmonic, Siberian Symphony (Omsk), Tomsk Symphony, Udmurt National (Izhevsk), Saratov Philharmonic, Belgorod Philharmonic, Vladimir Symphony, Kislovodsk Philharmonic, Sochi Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Moscow State Conservatory.

Since 2005 Dmitry Vasiliev has been appointed a Chief conductor of the Siberian Symphony Orchestra (Omsk). He worked as a professor of Tambov State Musical Pedagogical Institute from 1997 to 2002. He's a professor of Tambov State University since 2002. Vasiliev also is Artistic director of International Rachmaninov festival (2001, 2002), Music Festival "Musicians of Tambov" (1999, 2000, 2001), and festival "Musical Province" (2002).

Awards presented to Vasiliev include the XVI Grand Prix International de l'Accordeon Award (1994, Andrezieux-Boutheon, France), and First Prize in the 1st Competition for conductors of Russian folk Orchestras (1997, Tambov, Russia). He was also granted a Diploma for participation in the 2nd Round in symphonic conducting section of the IV International Prokofiev Competition in Saint-Petersburg in 2003. In the same year Dmitry Vasiliev and Rostov Philharmonic Orchestra recorded CD for the company ANTES EDITION (BM-CD 31.9186).
